Fondazione Italianiwas founded in Rome in 2005 as an autonomous and independent organisation for meeting and discussion, following the initiative of Angelo Schiano, lawyer in Rome; it aims to contribute to the freedom of expression and to promote the right to discuss ideas and positions without constraints. With the International Symposium on Climate Change Rome 2015 the Foundation celebrates its 10 years of existence.
The Foundation publishes italiani.net, an online magazine for Italians, of origin and of adoption, in their homeland and abroad. A group of freelance journalists coming from different experiences contribute to the magazine, allowing the coverage with original articles and competent insights of various areas of interest, that reach from Italian politics to foreign affairs, from economics to society, from social trends to the religious world, from science to the show business.
The Foundation is inspired by the Italian cultural and political values of the Action Party (Partito d'Azione) and Justice and Freedom (Giustizia e Libertà) movements, that have strongly influenced the democratic development of Italy in the first half of the last century. It promotes the strong bond that unites Italians in the world, routed to the common culture and tradition of the values of charity and solidarity.
In 2014 Fondazione Italiani has started its cooperation with the New Policy Forum, chaired by Mikhail Gorbachev, and attended in November 2014 the international symposium "The world 25 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall" in Berlin organized by the New Policy Forum in cooperation with the Cinema for Peace Foundation. On this occasion the basis for the International Symposium on Climate Change Rome 2015 were laid, together with the Nobel Peace Prize winner Gorbachev.
